Sony announces PlayStation VR Event for March on

Sony wants the PlayStation VR apparently officially present on 15 March. The virtual reality goggles for the PS4 will see the light of day in San Francisco.


Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are already waiting in the wings, because Sony want to splash out more clearly. After all, the Japanese have with the PlayStation VR own virtual reality glasses in the pipeline, which will work in combination with the PS4. Now the console manufacturer has announced loudly Engadget for 15 March a private Virtual Reality Event in San Francisco, on the final version of the glasses is supposed to be unveiled.


PlayStation VR probably comes with additional box

So far, few details are known PlayStation VR. The spectacle is similar to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive simulate a complete virtual gaming environment. Since the PlayStation 4 does not have enough processing power for such tasks itself, the VR is therefore likely to come up with an additional box, including processor and graphics chip, which is connected between console and glasses.

In addition to glasses Sony would like to share with third-party developers, of course, also bring a large portfolio of games on the market that have been optimized for VR gaming. Among the most popular titles that will support virtual reality gaming, including "Ace Combat 7", "ARK: Survival Evolved", "Gran Turismo Sport" or "Drive Club". Overall, nearly 100 titles for the PlayStation VR should be in development.

Price and release date not yet known

Even Sony has revealed no release date for the PlayStation VR. Most recently, Paul Raines, the head of the retail chain GameStop, hinted that Sony could publish the VR goggles until the autumn. Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, however the end of March or beginning of April are already appearing. Even at the price of the PlayStation VR Sony has so far been given any details. At the Tokyo Game Show 2015, the manufacturer had, however, indicated that the glasses in about could cost as much as a new console.
