Samsung’s high end smartphones will have 256GB storage options very soon. Earlier, many Flagship smartphones declined the use of Micro SD card, but now it seems that they are re-adopting the Micro SD card feature. Are you among those persons having GB’s of data and tired of little storage? If yes, then there is a good news for you as Samsung has announced that it has started mass production of the 256GB memory chip (UFS) 2.0 for mobiles.

Samsung Launches First 256GB UFS 2.0 Memory for mobile
Samsung’s 256GB Chip provides a reading speed of 850MBps while as the writing speed of 260MBps. The company claimed that it’s speed is double than that of typical SSD’s and three times fast than external Micro SD cards. Samsung says that this chip is based on its advanced V-NAND Flash Memory integrated with a high performing controller. Also, this storage chip can manage input operations up to 45,000 while as output operations up to 40,000 per second.
Initially, Samsung started manufacturing UFS 2.0 Storage from the eMMC standard in the flagship smartphones released last year. This technology also transfers data at high speeds.

Samsung mentioned in its website that “By providing high-density UFS memory that is nearly twice as fast as a SATA SSD for PCs, we will contribute to a paradigm shift within the mobile data storage market,” said Joo Sun Choi, Executive Vice President, Memory Sales and Marketing, Samsung Electronics. “We are determined to push the competitive edge in premium storage line-ups – OEM NVMe SSDs, external SSDs, and UFS – by moving aggressively to enhance performance and capacity in all three markets.”

This innovative technology is able to transfer 5GB file in just 12 seconds. It is not clearly known that which Samsung Device will first feature this chip. Let’s see if Samsung Galaxy S7 will come with this chip or not.
