WhatsApp provides a support for BlackBerry

Spring cleaning in WhatsApp: Seven years after the launch of the Messenger app is set of support for various operating systems. Concerns include Blackberry and Nokia Symbian S60.

WhatsApp is focused in the future on Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

WhatsApp will cease by the end of 2016. Support for various mobile operating systems. As the developers announced in a blog post, the end of the year, among other BlackBerry (including BlackBerry 10) and Nokia Symbian S60 are no longer supported. Also affected are Nokia S40 Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 and Windows Phone 7.1.

BlackBerry does not offer enough possibilities for future features

WhatsApp justifies this step with the change in user behavior. While in 2009, ran about 70 percent of mobile phones sold with an operating system of BlackBerry or Nokia, today 99.5 percent of all smartphones are working with a software from Google, Apple or Microsoft. According to the developers of the Messenger app operating systems from Nokia and BlackBerry would also simply do not offer possibilities to further enhance features in the future.

All users of BlackBerry, Nokia Symbian S60 and Co. recommend the makers of WhatsApp simply upgrade to a newer Smartphone with Android, iOS or Windows Phone. Although only the support for a single app is set, this step is likely to be hit hard especially BlackBerry. After all, now more than one billion people regularly use the Messenger. Maybe so BlackBerry remains how to build the Priv in future only option exclusively Android smartphones.
