Apple on Monday released iOS 9.3 beta 6 to developers and public testers. The update is available in both Apple’s dev center and public testing portal, as well as via an over-the-air update for folks running the previous beta.
For those who aren’t familiar with iOS 9.3, it’s going to be a significant update with several new user-facing features such as the aforementioned Night Shift mode, password-protected Notes, 3D Touch actions and much more.
Apple also has seeded the sixth beta for watchOS 2.2 to developers. This release follows the fifth beta distributed last week, and the first beta that was seeded earlier in January. watchOS 2.2 isn’t a huge update, but it does provide Apple Watch owners the ability to pair more than one wearable to an iPhone, as long as that iPhone is running the iOS 9.3 beta. So far, there haven’t been any other user-facing features added to the mix.
To download the new beta software, you’ll need to be running an iPhone with the new iOS 9.3 beta already installed. You’ll then open the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone, head into General and tap on Software Update. The Apple Watch has to have at least 50 percent battery, has to be placed on the Apple Watch charger, and has to be in range of the iPhone equipped with iOS 9.3.
We are installing these betas now, and will be sure to let you know if we spot anything else noteworthy.
