MTN Discontinues free Night call service – Way forward?

Things must be really hard for MTN ever since the FG fined the company. However lots of changes have been going on since then. As of last month, they stopped one of the cheapest tariff plans which is the MTN true talk+, and this time around, they’ve put a stop to the MTN free night call service.

According to MTN, the discontinuation of their free night call service was directed by NCC., which entails that customers would be charged for happy hour calls at normal rate.

As pasted by MTN, “Please cascade to the associates that MTN happy hour call (Free night call) which started October 2006 has been discontinued effect tonight, as directed by NCC.
Hence, all happy hours calls will be billed from tonight.
Thank you.”

Before now, users with a minimum of N100 in their airtime balance can engage in free night calls from 12:30AM to 4:30AM but going forward, that has been discontinued. Calls within that period (happy hour) will attract normal charges.

This must be very sad news especially for students who derive joy in utilizing the MTN free night call service. As known, the MTN free night call service is one of the outstanding services that bombarded lots of customers into using MTN. Now the service is no more, lot of their customers would be looking for great alternatives; some others might even switch to another network.
