Nike, in October last year in celebration of Back to the Future (movie) day introduced a limited edition Nike Mag 2015, a real life version of power-lacing sneakers worn by Marty McFly in the movie. Now the World's largest sportswear brand is bringing the power-lacing sneaker to regular consumers with the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0
It dosen't feature the futuristic design as Marty McFly's Nike Mag, and looks like your regular training or gym shoes. However, it has inbuilt sensors including adaptive lacing mechanism, which allows users to make the fit looser or snugger. When users will step into the shoe, their heel will hit a sensor, and then they can press two buttons on the side to adjust the grip.
“Your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” explains Tiffany Beers, the project’s technical lead. “Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect.”
Nike says that the new adaptive lacing system will free athletes from distraction and allow to make quick adjustments. The brand is also working on a system that can make automatic adjustments depending on user's performance need.
Nike's HyperAdapt 1.0 will release during the 2016 holiday season (U.S) and will only be available for members of its loyalty Nike+ app. It will come in three color options.
