Reliance Jio will offer free WiFi at six stadiums for ICC World Twenty20


The ICC World Twenty20 starts today (March 8) and telecom operator Reliance Jio has announced that it will offer free WiFi services called 'Jio Net' at six stadiums that will host the T20 world cup matches. The service is aimed at offering WiFi for about 40,000 spectators during the matches.

The Jio Net service will be available at Bangalore's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Dharmashala's Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Kolkata's Eden Gardens, Mohali's Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, New Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, and Mumbai Wankhede Stadium.

To make this possible, Reliance Jio users its superior network capacity aloing with specially designed state-of-the-art WiFi access points (APs) that will cover the entire stadium. Jio Net will offer speeds of 15-35Mbps.

To connect to Jionet at the aforementioned stadiums, you will have to select "Jionet" on your device's WiFi settings page, and you'll be redirected to login page - jionet.jio.in. Then you'll have to register your mobile number, after which you'll get a one time password (OTP) via SMS. Fedd in the code in the login page, and click verify and you'll be able to use the service.

Jio Net will also be made available during IPL (Indian Premiere League). This is not the first time the service is being used, in 2015, the it was made operational at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium during India-South Africa one day series, where the telecom company witnessed a record in data usage.
