Samsung sells 100,000 units of Galaxy S7 series in first two days in South Korea



The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge went on sale in over 60 countries starting March 11. Within the first two days of the commercial launch, more than 100,000 units of Galaxy S7 series were sold in its home ground Korea, reports Yonhap News citing official sales data.

The sales of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge reached a combined 60,000 on Friday, while on Saturday the combined sale figure were 40,000, after they hit the market. The report adds that Galaxy S7 edge accounted for nearly 40 percent of the two-day sales while Galaxy S7 accounted for 60 percent, and the pace of sales is roughly on par with demand generated by Galaxy S6 series.

It is worth noting that, Samsung sold around 200,000 units of Galaxy S6 series within the first 10 days of commercial launch last year.

Samsung unpacked the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge at MWC 2016 in Barcelona. The Galaxy S7 series comes with 3D glass and metal design, larger battery capacities, microSD card slot and are rated waterproof and dust resistant. Both have improved low-light camera that has extremely fast auto focus.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge come with 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch curved (accordingly) Quad HD Super AMOLED always on displays. They are equipped with Exynos 8 Octa 8890 SoC/Snadragon 820 SoC (depending on region), 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, 12MP Dual pixel rear camera (w/ LED flash, OIS, 4K video recording) and 5MP front camera. The Galaxy S7 packs 3000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S7 edge has a larger 3600mAh battery, with both supporting Fast Charge tech. They runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
