Samsung shipping Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge units with different camera sensors

According to reports, Samsung is said to be using two different camera sensors on Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. There are some Galaxy S7/S7 edge units that uses Samsung's proprietary ISOCELL sensor, and there are some that use Sony's IMX260 sensor.

Sony's camera sensors, are utilized by Snapdragon 820 powered devices, whereas, the Exynos powered version uses ISOCELL sensor.

This is not the first time, Samsung is using two different camera sensors have been used on the company's flagship. Last year, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, as well as Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+  also shipped with two different camera sensors.

In terms of specification, both camera sensors come with a resolution of 12.3-megapixels, dual pixel PDAF and an individual pixel size of 1.4µm. According to tests, there is no difference in the image quality and camera functionality, however, last year it was found that Sony's sensor offer better quality shots than those taken from Samsung's own sensor.
