Tesla ended the year in Warp-speed

Super-Tesla Edition

A total of 269 EV's were sold last month in Belgium, a new record, pulling the EV Share up to 0,44%, which compares favorably against the 0,17% of 2013 and the 0,26% of 2012, the previous yearly EV Share record.

Full Year sales also ended at a record 2.105 units, roughly the same as 2013 and 2012 sales combined, not bad, eh?

Much of this new monthly record is due to the abnormal result of the Model S from Tesla, beating the all-time monthly sales record for a single model, with 130 units, which is more than the american had sold in the previous Five Months!

Looking at the rest of the monthly models ranking, the BMW i3 was Second, also beating its personal best performance, with 51 units, but the real news came in Third, with the BMW i8 joining the podium for the first time and improving yet again its personal record by selling 21 units!

In Fourth, the Cayenne Plug-In (17 units) continues to improve, while on the contrary, the Panamera Plug-In sales seem to have dried up (Only 2 units, worst result ever).

Could this be an indication that the Tesla Model X will do the same to the Model S?

On the YTD chart, the Renault Zoe exchanged positions with its smaller brother Twizy, reaching #7, while in #9 we have the surprising BMW i8, which jumped four positions to join the Belgian Top 10, good month also for the Porsche Cayenne Plug-In, rising one position to #14. Something tells me that these two will be regular presences on the Monthly Top 5...

A reference for the first Golf GTE registration, the secret weapon that Volkswagen has prepared to change its (Bad) fortunes in Belgium.

Looking at yearly performances, one interesting fact is that all the Top 3 models are on their first full sales year, which says a lot on the dynamics of this market.

In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla (25% Share) won the Best Selling Brand Title, followed by BMW (20%), while in Third we have Porsche, with 12% share.

After an important sales growth in 2014, i think the market will grow in a less spectacular fashion, to maybe 2.500 sales, with Tesla continuing to run ahead, BMW comfortably in Second and Porsche running to preserve its Third Spot from Renault, Nissan and VW.
