According to The Wall Street Journal, a faulty batch of Taptic Engines are to blame for the delays in Apple Watch shipments. The Taptic Engine is a new component that makes a vibration similar to the feeling of being taped on the wrist.
"After mass production began in February, reliability testing revealed that some taptic engines supplied by AAC Technologies Holdings Inc., of Shenzhen, China, started to break down over time, the people familiar with the matter said. One of those people said Apple scrapped some completed watches as a result."Essentially, Apple is switching suppliers, but this can take a while to do. Hopefully, we'll get better delivery estimates in the near future.
