Apple releases watchOS 2 for Apple Watch

After a nearly week long delay, Apple has released watchOS 2 to the public. The update is a big one, and brings new features like custom complications, photo-based watch faces, and native apps to the Apple Watch. To update, simply head over to the Watch app on your paired iPhone running iOS 9, and check for new updates.

Third-party apps can also take advantage features like the Taptic Engine, Digital Crown, accelerometer, heart rate sensor, speaker, and microphone, that were previously available only to the stock apps. With watchOS 2, developers will be able to build more complex, full-featured apps that can now run natively on the watch itself rather than being tethered to the iPhone for better performance, so they should load more quickly and have even greater capabilities.

As alluded to, watchOS 2 is feature packed. New features include:
  • Third-party complications
  • New time-lapse watch faces
  • Custom photo watch faces
  • Native apps
  • Nightstand mode
  • Time Travel
  • Reply to Email
  • Add more friends using multiple friend screens
  • Use multiple colors for sketches
  • Activation Lock
  • Enhanced Siri
The new Apple Watch OS can be directly download via the Apple Watch app on your iPhone..
