Activision buys King, the creator of Candy Crush Saga for $5.9b




Candy Crush Saga soon belong to Activision.




King, the company that launched the famous game Candy Crush Saga, has announced that it will be bought by Activision Blizzard for $ 5.9 billion.

If the two companies operate both in the gaming world, King is known for his puzzle games that are available on mobile and Facebook (a major source of notifications). As for Activision is the publisher behind series like Call of Duty or Guitar Hero, not to mention World of Warcraft.
And if it is already a leader in the field of games for consoles and PC, it seems that buying King, he hopes to develop advantage in mobile and social games, land on which its rival Electronic Arts already some good results.

Between them, King and Activision will not count less than 1000 titles. Currently, King boasts 200 titles and 340 million unique users per month. And with those of King, Activision Blizzard have a total of over 500 million. Otherwise, to recap, Candy Crush Saga editor had its IPO last year.
The acquisition must still be approved by shareholders and by various regulatory bodies. But if all goes well, King hopes that this acquisition will be effective by the spring of 2016.
