How to Install TWRP Recovery and Root Galaxy J2 SM-J200H

Samsung Galaxy J2 smartphone is an android device running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system out of the box and powered by a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, Exynos 3475 chipset, Mali-T720 GPU coupled with a 1GB RAM component and an 8GB internal storage.

How to Install TWRP Recovery on Samsung Galaxy J2

Step 1: Download and install Samsung Galaxy J2 drivers form here to your PC.

Step 2: Enable USB debugging on Samsung Galaxy J2. To enable, simply go to settings >> Developers option, and enable from there. If the developers option isn’t visible, then go to About Phone under settings, and scroll down to Build number, then tap up to 7 times, till you get a message saying you’re now a developer. Now, go back to settings >> developers option and enable USB debugging.

Step 3: After that, download TWRP Recovery file here, and unzip the file, then move to the desktop screen of your computer for easy access.

Step 4: After that, Boot your Galaxy J2 into Download Mode. To perform the operation, you have to power off your device and then press, Volume Down + Power + Home. Press Volume Up now to continue to Download Mode.

Step 5: Once your device is in download mode, simply connect the phone to your PC via the use of USB cable and the ODIN application would notify an added message. You should see a blue box on the ODIN screen if all drivers are installed properly, if not, re-install and reboot PC.

Step 6: After that, choose AP or PDA in Odin and select the TWRP Recovery file in which you have downloaded, the .tar extension. Also endeavor that the re-partition is not ticked in the odin.

Step 7: Finally, click on the start button, and the process would begin immediately. Once the process is completed, you would notice the RESET or PASS message on the ODIN screen. Then your device would boot into recovery mode, and then reboot your device. Go to recovery and wipe cache and data in case you get stuck at bootloop.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy J2 using SuperSU

Step 1: Firstly, download the SuperSU file from here, and move the downloaded files to the internal storage of your Galaxy J2 device.

Step 2: Now, switch off your device and boot to recovery mode (press and hold Volume Down button + press Power button).

Step 3: After that, go to the recover main menu, and then choose install, and then select the SuperSU Zip file and flash immediately.

Step 4: Once the installation process is completed, simply go back main recovery menu and tap on Reboot system, and your device would be rebooted.

That’s it. Your Samsung Galaxy J2 would be rooted successfully. To verify root access, simply download root checker and confirm if your device has gained root access.
