Alcatel has announced to new Idol series smartphone Idol 4 and Idol 4S at MWC 2016 in Barcelona. The company also announced that it is dropping the OneTouch brand name and will operate under the name Alcatel, and also revealed a new logo.
The Alcatel Idol 4 and Idol 4S comes with an innovative packaging design, that transforms into a VR headset offering an immersive 360-degree viewing and gaming. You can download conetnt from the OneTouch VR store app and stream realtime content via LittleStar.
The Alcatel Idol 4 features 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS LTPS display and is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor with Adreno 405 GPU, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, further expandable via microSD card up to 512GB. For photography, the Idol 4 sports 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and 1080p video recording capabilities. For clicking selfies you get a 8-megapixel front snapper. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with A-GPS, NFC and USB OTG. It is fueled by 2610mAh battery and supports fast charging.
The Alcatel Idol 4S on the other hand, features 5.5-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) AMOLED display and is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor coupled with Adreno 510 GPU and 3GB RAM. On-board storage is 32GB, which can be increased via microSD card. It is equipped with 16-megapixel rear camera with dual tone LED flash and 2K video recording capabilities. There is 8-megapixel camera on the front accompanied by LED flash. For connectivity there is 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with A-GPS, NFC and USB OTG support. It is backed by 3000mAh battery that also supports fast charging.
The Alcatel Idol 4 and Idol 4S comes in Gold, Dark Gray, Rose Gold and Metal Silver colors. The pricing and availability details is yet to be revealed.
