Tim Cook says ‘It’s going to be Christmas Eve for awhile’ when talking about the Apple Car

Don’t expect the Apple Car to start hitting stores anytime soon, says Tim Cook. During Apple’s annual shareholders meeting on Friday, the CEO responded to a question regarding the rumored vehicle, suggesting the project is far from launching.

Business Insider has Cook’s full response from the Q&A session: “Do you remember when you were a kid, and Christmas Eve it was so exciting, you weren’t sure what was going to be downstairs? Well, it’s going to be Christmas Eve for a while.”

As it stands, Apple hasn’t confirmed it’s working on a vehicle of any sorts, but the Rumor Mill has been steadily sending out rumors regarding the subject matter for months now. Recently, Cook said that autos are something that the company could be exploring, but wasn’t willing to give up any details on what that meant, exactly.
“Yeah, I’m probably not going to do that. The great thing about being here is we’re curious people. We explore technologies, and we explore products. And we’re always thinking about ways that Apple can make great products that people love, that help them in some way. And we don’t go into very many categories, as you know. We edit very much. We talk about a lot of things and do fewer. We debate many things and do a lot fewer.”
