Adele has asserted that she has not given her permission to have her music used by Donald Trump during his campaign. The Republican hopeful - who is a fan of the British singer and has attended her sold-out concerts in the past - has used several of her songs at rallies over the past few months.
Trump, who lost the first caucus of his campaign to become Republican candidate in Iowa last night, had played both Rolling in the Deep and Adele's James Bond theme song, Skyfall, at previous rallies - and it seems he did so without the singer's blessing.
"Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning," her spokesman said, addressing concerns by her US-based fans that the move meant she was endorsing the controversial candidate.
Adele is not the first musician to take exception to the inclusion of her music in Trump campaigning, the guardian reports. Neil Young, REM's Michael Stipe and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler have also asked the businessman to desist from using their music - with Tyler concerned that it "gives the false impression that he is connected with, or endorses, Mr Trump's presidential bid".
