Here Is A Great Tool Students Can Use to Create Trading Cards

Trading Card Creator is an excellent tool from ReadWriteThink that enables learners to display their understanding of different topics in creative and engaging ways. Students can create trading cards for a variety of educational purposes including ‘characters from their favorite book, landmarks in their favorite city, events from a period in history they find interesting, or vocabulary words .’ There are seven main categories students can use for creating cards namely: fictional person, real person, fictional place, real place, object, event and vocabulary word. Each category embeds a set of instructions to walk students through the process of trading card creation. Other important features provided by this tool include:

Creating trading cards on Trading Card Creator is simple and easy. Here is how to do it: open the the editor and  type in you name and click ’Start’. Next, enter a topic and select a type for new card. In the next page, provide data and information for your new card, use the forward/backword arrows to go through the pages. If you want to add an image to your card, click on ‘Insert an image’. At anytime, you can edit your topic or start over from scratch. When you finish editing your card click on ‘Finish editing’. The new card will be added to your card collection which can embed up to eight cards. There is also the option to add cards you have already created and saved in your computer or on a storage device. To do so, click on ‘Add cards from file’. When you are done, click on ‘Finish’ and choose from the sharing options there: print your card, share it via email, save it as a draft so you can come back and edit it or ‘save final’ in which case you will only be able to view and access it but not editing possibilities.
