A while back, I had the opportunity to attend the launching of weBoost in Malaysia, introducing two of their latest products, the weBoost Connect 3G and the weBoost Drive 3G-S. Now if you have not heard of this brand before then you're forgiven, as it is an absolutely new brand in Malaysia, brought into Malaysia by Wilson Electronics and distributed locally by Digital Paper.

I was pretty psyched up after the launch event to test out the weBoost Drive 3G-S that I immediately went ahead to unbox the package to find out more about the product. Inside the packaging we have the product itself which doubles up as a mobile phone cradle, the grips, as well as the power cable to the device and the cable to the included antenna.

Now one of the reasons I took a very keen interest in this Drive 3G-S mobile signal booster can be attributed to my everyday experience where I get very irritated when I'm talking on the phone (via handsfree!) in the car and it gets cut off midway due to poor reception and the likes. "Call failed" has been one of the words I hate seeing on my mobile. So if there is a device promising to fix this, ensuring your call quality and stability is similar to if you are outside the car while driving, I'm all IN.

Stated on the box one of the key features of weBoost Drive 3G-S was that it is easy to install. Well, I put it to the test last weekend, installing everything including the antenna into my car. Hey, I wanted to test it right away so there I was spending some effort to get it up and running.

It is really very simple, where they provided me with a ready double sided adhesive rubber to mount it on the dashboard. Being so light, the device itself felt secured in place the moment I stuck it on. Two cables run out from the weBoost Drive 3G-S, one toward the cigarette power port to power up the device, and another which is attached to the antenna to be placed outside the car on the roof.

All installed, and ready to test. Using it for the past 3 days or so in the car has been a bliss. Gone are the weak signal spots when I drive through certain areas of the highway towards Shah Alam, and majority of the time I have a full bar of 3G signal. This is pretty cool, considering I always get dropped calls while using the phone in the car, so far I haven't experienced any yet using the weBoost Drive 3G-S. Now if only I could make the wires run more neatly inside the car.
